About Iris Hantverk
Iris Hantverk is a Swedish brand which celebrated 150 years in 2020. In the late 1900s century a small brush manufacturing started out in Stockholm. It was a successful movement so successful that it remains today. Now, as then, every brush is made by hand by visually impaired craftsmen. All brushes are of exclusive design and made mostly from natural materials.
Iris Hantverk have strong roots in the visually impaired movement, and have continuously worked with skilled visually impaired craftsmen and charities throughout their long history.
The core of the business is brush binding manufacturing at Sandsborgsvägen, Enskede in Stockholm, where 6 visually impaired craftsmen make brushes according to old Swedish tradition. Their brushes and everything else in their expanding collection is handmade, using natural materials, often at a very reasonable price.
Since August 2012 Richard Sparrenhök and Sara Edhäll owns Iris Hantverk. They have a passion for brush binding manufacturing and believe that many have discovered and appreciate the feeling and quality of a hand drawn brush made of natural materials. Their vision is to revive the traditional brush binding profession. By making functional products with good design combined with the quality of natural materials and the craftsmen's solid technique, we think they have a winning product.
At Scandi Minimal we love this Scandinavian eco brand and can't wait to try some products from our most recent delivery, the Iris Hantverk's Baker's Brush, the rolling pin and the toothbrush amongst other things.
